Mrs. Sandra Rajnikant Shroff

James Marcus, Superintendent
I have, since we started our industry in Vapi been recognised the need for establishing educational institutions. At Vapi I started GnyanDham School a premier school in south Gujarat.

Along with the growth of her Company, Mrs Shroff has been closely associated with Gujarat did not have an Institute of Technology. My colleague, Mr. Ashok Panjwanirecognised that and together we had the courage to start on this project. From the beginning we decided that we would produce graduates that were useful to industry from day one. Mr. Panjwani suggested that we work on the lines of ICT (Institute of Chemical Technology). Formerly known as UDCT (University Department of Chemical Technology).

We had brain storming with like-minded people of Technical Committee and realised Bharuch district which is full of chemical industry and likely to grow further is in need of good quality of Engineers and Technocrats. If we can develop chemical Technology Institute in this area, it will be ideal situation for Industry and academia to work together to develop (an Institute of) A Center of Excellence.

We have moved forward, working with Rotarians of Rotary Club Ankleshwar, with full support of Shroff family, UPL who committed 35crs, and many industry friends of our area.

We have completed 5 years, our first batch is already out and well accepted by industries, and second batch ready to come out.

This has been possible due to fully committed faculty working under the excellent leadership of Principal and under mentorship/guidance of Mr. Ashok Panjwani, Mr. Angiras Shukla, Mr. Kishore Surti, and the financial support of UPL.

We have been working one on one with students because we believe every student is good if properly guided. We are giving maximum exposure of industry to students by way of industry visits and expert lectures. We believe this helps students be fully aware of what industry needs and the opportunities industry offers, and to be ready to work right from day one.

We have long way to go. Have plans to develop hostel, research laboratories, pilot plant auditorium and achieve deemed university status in next 5 years.

Our goal is to be one of the best Technical Colleges in next 10 years, up along with ICT, IITS and the deemed Universities. This goal is possible because we believe in team work, we have the team to do this, which is totally committed
