The Institution of Engineers India

Institution of Engineers India (IEI) is a national organization of engineers in India and was founded in the year 1920 in Madras. It was officially opened in 1921 by Lord Chelmsford, Viceroy of British India. In 1935, the IEI received the Royal Charter of incorporation from King George V to promote and develop the science, practice and business of engineering. It has over one million members in various engineering disciplines in over 125 centers and chapters in India and around the world.

The Institution of Engineers (IEI), India is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers in India. The institute serves among professional engineers, academics and research scientists and provides a vast array of technical, professional and support services to government, industry and academics as well as the engineering fraternity. It provides financial support for the R&D project in various engineering disciplines.

The Department of Environmental science & Technology of Shroff S.R. Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology, Vataria has started Students’ Chapter of The Institution of Engineers (India). The main aim of this IEI Student Chapter is to enhance students' technology and skills and to educate them on career opportunities and challenges in technical education. More than 66 students have enrolled till date in the chapter. On 12th December 2019, Department got the official certificate and cover letter of the approval from The Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata Head-Quarters. SRICT Students’ Chapter (DEST) was inaugurated on 24th December 2019. The program was attended by Chief Guest Er. Kirti H. Shethna, Chairman, IEI (South Gujrat Local Chapter), Surat. Guest of Honor Mr. D. G. Patel, Hon. Secretary, IEI, SGLC, Surat, Rtn. Ashok Panjwani, Vice Chairman, Ankleshwar Rotary Education Society (ARES), Rtn. Angiras Shukla, Hon. Secretary, ARES, Dr. Snehal Lokhandwala, I/c Principal, SRICT, Ms. Pratibha Gautam, HOD, DEST.

The program was successfully coordinated by Mr. Akash Raval, Assistant professor, DEST & organized by Department of Environmental science & Technology SRICT with the full support of Ankleshwar Rotary Education Society (ARES) Management from the inception of the SRICT Students’ Chapter (DEST).

The following activities have been carried out by Department of Environmental science & Technology, SRICT, Vataria under IEI Student chapter.

  • An “Inauguration function” of Institution of Engineers (India), Department of Environmental Science & Technology students’ chapter at Shroff S. R. Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology on Tuesday, 24th December, 2019.
